1) Does the cat ramp fit back down over the tray?

YES.   The cat ramp further secures the Slide & Toss to the Litter Maid unit.  The Slide & Toss may be used without the cat ramp.  However, if used without the cat ramp, additional stabilization of the tray may be necessary, such as a heavy object in front of the tray to keep it from sliding out. You may also take a length of elastic tape and attach Velcro fasteners to the end as well as the LitterMaid unit. (see example)

2) Are the plugs included with the tray?
YES.

3) Can commercial garbage bags be used as liners?

Yes.  However the Slide & Toss was specifically designed to use standard grocery bags.  If you use more bags than you get from grocery stores, you may ask grocers to double bag or ask neighbors for extra bags.

If you plan on using garbage bags, the 8 gallon bags (for medium waste baskets) are recommended.  The 4 gallon ones (for small wastebaskets) are generally too small for the Slide & Toss opening, which requires bag opening width of 19-20".  (Ruffies 8 gallon medium waste basket bags - available at Wal-Mart - will fit, but the excess depth may need to be trimmed off)

  4) I have been following the delivery confirmation number on the USPS web site.  It has said that they have been electronically notified of shipment for the last several days and have not changed.  Has this item been shipped?

Delivery Confirmation Number is not the same as a Tracking Number used by UPS.  USPS typically does not scan the item at the point of shipment, and in most cases, does not scan the item until it is delivered.  Therefore the USPS on-line site may indicate that they have only been "electronically notified" of shipping for several days.  This does not mean the item has not been shipped.  Occasionally it may get scanned "in-transit" at a sorting center along the way.  If this is the case, the date displayed at the USPS site is not necessarily the day it was shipped.

If you receive notification that it was scanned in Clackamas, Oregon; Oregon City, Oregon; or Portland, Oregon, then it probably is the date of shipping, or the first business day after the item is dropped off at the Post Office, especially if it is a weekend or holiday.

5) May the carbon filters still be used with the Slide & Toss?
YES.  You can place it directly on the bottom side of the LitterMaid lid.

6)  Does the Slide & Toss fit the new Elite models?

No.  The waste compartment area of the Mega Elite was changed significantly, though the waste receptacle is identical to all of the other LitterMaid models.  (see question 7)

7)  I have the Slide & Toss and recently purchased the Elite model.
Is there a way it can be used with the Elite?

Users have sent us how they have done it.  One example is posted below.  However we no longer provide support for problems if you run into them.

8)  Should I use liners with the Slide & Toss?

Although the Slide & Toss can be used without the liners, it is strongly recommended that you use liners, as it was specifically designed to be used with standard grocery bags as liners.

The excess liners around the rim of the tray acts to seal the tray to keep odors from escaping.  Try to "tent" excess liner around the rim area and allow the LitterMaid lid to push the liner down to position for a maximum seal.  You may also use carbon filters to reduce odors.  (Disposable trays do not always seal completely due to warping of trays, alignment problems, litter on the rim, etc. and have openings as well.  I believe that is why they came up with the carbon filters)

A recent customer recommendation is to leave the hinged lip unfastened.  This will raise the the hinged lid and help in the sealing/tenting of the liner.

9)  The lid of the Elite does not open fully with the modified Slide & Toss in place

The hinged lid will not open completely with the Slide & Toss in place.  However this should not interfere with the raking/cleaning action, as the range of motion is more than adequate for this purpose in most cases.  However, we have had one case where the restricted opening  prevented the complete opening of the LitterMaid lid, which I believe has to do with manufacturing variability of the hinged lid.  If you have this problem, please click here for additional instructions.

10)  I am not sure which model I have, or if it is the Elite? How do I know?

The Elite looks significantly different from the non-Elite models.

Elite Models LME 5000 - 9900  (color does not matter)
